We don't just prepare students for the future; we support them to create it!
At B U Careers Academy our mission is to empower, support and inspire the next generation in their career journeys.
We want to ensure that all young people are empowered to be the best they can be. We believe that a students post code should not determine their access to quality career education and the possibilities that they believe are available to them. Through education we believe that young people can build the skills, capacities and understanding to confidently make decisions around their futures. The skills, mindset and tools they will learn will service them long after they leave the school-gate behind...
Busy curriculums, competing interests and limited resources.
Often with limited time and resources, Career Practitioners find it difficult to secure time with students, particularly at the Senior level. Due to time and budgetary constraints often specific year levels are prioritised for Career programs and for one to one counselling. At B U Careers Academy we want to ensure that students can access Career support and resources when it is most relevant to them. And that does not always coincide with scheduled school events and sessions.
While one-time Career events or themed weeks can make an impact, what happens afterwards? What if students wish to delve deeper? Some find solace in exploring at their own pace, on their own terms. Others might have had conflicting priorities or thoughts during the initial opportunity, but the timing wasn't right for them.
That's where we come in. B U Careers Academy offers a solution. We bridge the gap between limited time and students' evolving needs. With us, Career support isn't bound by schedules; it's tailored to individual journeys. Because every student's path is unique, and we're here to support them every step of the way.
A flexible and strategic approach to Career Education.
Our resources are designed to support students and Career Practitioners in a wide range of circumstances. Our learning modules can be accessed anytime, anywhere. This means that students can log in for a dedicated Careers lesson or Wellbeing class or in their own time. Often a combination of both is the sweet spot for maximum engagement and outcomes. The modules are designed to be student led so that students spend time and energy in the areas where they most feel drawn to and inspired to engage in the most.
"Effective career development activities can help young people develop a better understanding of the relationship between education and employment, broaden their career aspirations and help them develop a more informed understanding of what they need to do in order to achieve their goals." DREAM JOBS? Teenagers’ Career Aspirations and the Future of Work (OECD Pub. 2020)

We understand the challenges but we also understand the impact that quality Career education can have. One of our big goals is to empower students so that they are equipped with the skills to research and create their futures. In addition to this we want to instil a positive growth mindset that will ensure students have a strong foundation in which to navigate career decisions whilst at school but also long after they graduate. The impact of this is lower stress levels and anxiety around career decisions and greater motivation and drive to achieve future goals. The ultimate goal of B U Careers Academy is for students to leave school feeling prepared and optimistic about their futures.
